I have been chugging away at the Written and Illustrated By series for the last few months, and as such I have neglected the Universal Pictorial Language. I like taking breaks from one project to play with another since, well, I get bored of doing the same thing in the studio every time. Adding up survey results can get a wee bit tedious if you do it every month!
Here is what I have been up to:
The Sanctuary has been hosting an exhibition featuring both myself and Madelyn Covey. Here is the write up in the North Coast Journal: https://www.northcoastjournal.com/AEBlog/archives/2018/09/04/katy-warner-and-madelyn-covey-geek-out-at-the-sanctuary
Please consider visiting for the second Arts Arcata! reception on September 14th from 6-9pm. I will be there playing with some of the collage materials I have collected for another art excursion...
SCRAP Humboldt has selected me as their very first Artist-In-Residence. Every Wednesday through Halloween I will be available in their art studio from noon to 5pm, giving you another opportunity to see what all this Otakudom is about. So far I have just been making handmade paper, but this will culminate in a paper and wire sculpture that I have been envisioning for a while.
I will be hosting a workshop teaching folks how to silkscreen with common household items and cheap resusables on October 15th from 3 to 5pm. Only $12, and you get to keep your stencil!
